Strengths:
Heavy and Immovable
He is basically a big thick trunk with appendages. Good luck trying to knock him down or move him without his explicit consent. Ramming into him would hurt you more than him.
Bite Force
Very strong bite. Once he bites down, it’ll be difficult to get him to let go.
Toofs
Teeth are built mostly for crushing but they’re still sharp.
Funny Stabbers
His vines have sharp tips to them and won’t feel too good plunging into your soft tender flesh.
Abilities:
He “sees” through vibrations via his vines. This means he can see 360 degrees around him at all times. So long as the objects are grounded to the earth, he has the ability to see them. Hiding from him is practically impossible.
Limitations to Ability:
The range of “sight” extends around 60 yards/55 meters/180 feet. However, it is only crystal clear within about 10 yards/9 meters/30 feet. Things become significantly less clear the further out it goes.
He can ONLY see things that are GROUNDED. This means if something is in the air he cannot see it at all. He will not be able to see anything flying nor things being thrown at him. He also can not read or see anything on an electronic screen (he can read books and written things, though, due to the indentations of the print on the surface).
Without his vines, he is completely blind. Coincidentally, if he doesn’t wanna look at something, he can just lift all his vines off the ground. That is the equivalent to a blindfold.
Weaknesses:
Slow Bro
He does have the ability to walk but it is extremely slow and useless. Tortoise and the Hare? He’d lose to them both. His locomotion is a combination of his roots strategically scrambling across the ground and steering himself forward with his vines. He’s not opposed to moving around, but if he can be stationary for long lengths of time it’s preferred.
Stamina? I barely know her.
He is a big heavy boy, so moving around–whenever he does–takes a lot of effort, so he has basically 0 stamina.
Skipped Arm Day
Despite his vines being important both for his mobility and his sight, they actually aren’t very strong. They could be snapped or pulled off with minimal effort. Tugging on them would not be fun times.
Photosynthesis
Although he doesn’t require sunlight to survive (he is a carnivore) he does need it to regulate his body temperature and give him energy. If he gets too cold, he becomes extremely sluggish and freezing temperature can make him fall dormant. This means he becomes less active at night when the sun hasn’t been out for awhile. He does store some energy, but it only lasts for 2-4 hours. Then he becomes eepy sleepy.
Personality:
• Absolutely chill as heck. Very little can get him down or upset him. He just vibin’.
• Generally sees the positive in everything. It’s very easy to get him excited! Found a funny lil rock shaped like Caesarion’s face? “WHOAH! That is so cool!”
• Is pretty much oblivious to people’s negative emotions. This might make him come off as insensitive, but he’s actually just entirely unaware. “Cheer up, bucko! It’s not like you’ve been ravaged by some horrible disease or something! Oh, you have? Haha, oh naah you’ll be fine, don’t worry about it!”
History:
Hurvy was grown in the Engrove from a seed imported off-site by Blanca. To her surprise, he gained sapience and learned to speak. Blanca taught him how to read and do basic tasks and gave him an employee role. He doesn’t know or have much interest in finding out where he “came from”. He likes the Engrove just fine!
Likes:
• Food, specifically meat. MEAT MEAT MEAT!
• Water! MMM. Delicious!
• Meeting new people. He’s very sociable!
Dislikes:
• Fire. He is a plant, after all.
• Being pressured to do things. Just chill out, man!
• Hungry :c Feed Me, Blanca!
Other:
• His vines can bend anywhere, there are no specific “joints”. When he bends them, they make really unnerving popping sounds, like knuckle-cracking. It’s not pleasant.
• His mane is made up of a bunch of large leaves. Please don’t draw that, you will hurt yourself.
