Name: Auriel
Alias/Nickname: Auri
Species: Ilyr
Age: 30 (in human years)
Height/Weight: 115 cm/320 pounds
Gender: female (she/her)
Reason for entering: She lost the love of her life, Haldor, in a tragic way, and feels guilty for it. Haldor, who was the usual size for an Ilyr and therefore much bigger and stronger than Auriel, died in battle protecting her when they were attacked. As he lay dying, she made a promise to him (?). She misses him terribly and will take any chance, however small, to bring him back.
Memento: Haldor’s claw on a necklace a friend made for her.
Strengths: Good low-light vision
Sharp hearing
Good sense of smell
Able to run and move fast,
Sharp fangs and claws.
Strong-willed and determined.
Abilities: Like all Ilyr, she can shoot a blast of energy from her horn to hit a target. This can be used in combat, but is very tiring as it requires a lot of energy. Using it for too often at a time will drain her strength considerably.
The blasts are comparable to a ray of lightning: They last only for a moment and can cause burns and injuries similar to an electric strike, but usually not strong enough to kill. They can cause unconsciousness, though. The maximum range of the attack is about 20 meters, and after every shot, at least 5 minutes of recovery are needed.
Weaknesses: General lack of endurance and physical strength due to being born a sickly runt.
Can be thrown off balance with not much effort or trip easily as her ankle joints are not as stable.
Gets easily exhausted and has often trouble breathing when getting to this point.
Poor pain tolerance.
Prone to vertigo and palpitations. The palpitations are caused if she strains a lot, like using the horn blast more than twice or three times in short succession.
The vertigo is mostly triggered by either hard hits on her head, or the panic attacks that are caused by the triggers listed beneath. Both the palpitations and vertigo will cause Auriel to having to take a short break to regain composure and make her more prone to lose her footing.
Can be triggered into having traumatic flashbacks of the attack that led to Haldor’s death. Her triggers are:
Dragons and similar beings or beings that, in a way, remind of dragons, since it was a dragon that attacked her and Haldor.
When a larger beast grabs a smaller one by the neck and shakes it like a dog shakes a rat, since that is what the dragon did to Haldor.
Personality: Auriel has an optimistic outlook on life and a lot of determination. She will go great lengths for her loved ones and, despite being small and weak for her species, is willing to fight for them and for what she believes in. Caring, loyal, braver than she seems at first.
Likes: Forests, greenery and natural environments in general.
Dislikes: Being immersed in water (her fur would soak and become heavy).
Other: She was born a runt, much smaller and weaker than Ilyr usually are. As a pup, she was small and sickly.
History: Auriel was born a runt, small and sickly from the very beginning. Her mother had little hope for her to survive, but she did – full of determination and an astounding will to live.
Growing up, Auriel always remained smaller and weaker than others of her kind and age, since she always remained sickly. But she lived to adulthood. Auriel did well in surviving on her own as an adult; despite everything, she is a good hunter. When she met Haldor for the first time, it was when a twist of fate had her go on a mission with him and a few other Ilyr, and at first, he made an aloof and closeted impression on her.
But when she got stuck in a swamp, it was Haldor who risked his own life to save her… and Auriel began to see the real Haldor behind his stoic façade. From that day on, they grew closer and closer. They fell in love, became a very close couple, almost soulmates. Until, one day, they were in the wrong place at the wrong time, crossing the path of a vengeful dragon that hated Ilyr.
Once again, Haldor protected Auriel, but paid for it with his life. Auriel was devastated to lose him, her one love, her soulmate. But hope grew once more when she got word of the Endgrove and the magical flower that grows within…
