Strengths:
Float like a butterfly : One of the fastest individuals amongst his species, Zander leverages this to his advantage in combat. His small stature and the nature of his body contributing to his ability to hit speeds other individuals would struggle to achieve. Though maintaining this speed for prolonged periods can have serious tolls. (used in bursts, say 4 or 5 times in a scene, and then requiring at least a few panels of rest at least. Exceeding this limit should have visible struggle or drawbacks involved. 50-80MPH, think Cheetah speeds.)
Sting like a bee : A trained fighter, combat comes readily and easily to Zander. Having spent a life fighting and defending himself and others has left him well equipped to deal with dangers of the world when it comes to martial solutions (He should come off as semi-competent when fighting other individuals or plants, he’s not new to fighting and is fairly skilled at it having done it since his birth.)
Abilities:
Yarn Spear: a unique spear designed by himself after leaving the wider mouthguard, this spear hides a deceptively designed bladed whip weapon at its tip. When pulled the string comes loose and the blades that interlink while tightened unlock and form a more lithe and flexible bladed whip on the end of a long shaft. Pulling of the alternate string re-tightens the knot and causes the interlocking bits to reconnect into a solid spear point.
Night-Sight : Eyes meant for nighttime hunting and work have left Zander with powerful night vision. Adapted over his life, as well as a trait of his species, he possesses two glowing amber eyes which in the night themselves are lightly luminescent.
It’s falling with style : Despite the tattered state of Zanders wings, they still can be used to glide or arrest downward momentum. While he cannot fly in the conventional sense, the remnants of his wings do allow him some amount of air maneuverability. (About the same as the lower end of a flying squirrels glide, so about 15 MPH)
Replacement parts : With the state of Zanders body being somewhat brittle and light, the one saving grace is in the aftermath of such injury he can heal from most injuries given time. It's not fast nor comfortable, but rarely is an appendage, even if lost, gone forever. A missing arm or leg with a lot of effort and time may come back. (Breakages should last for whatever chapter they happen in, but maybe heal at the start of or during the next chapter or entry. Any loss of limbs however will probably persist till multiple chapters or entries later, and be portrayed as an uncomfortable and painful process.)
Weaknesses:
Co-Dependant: Zanders spent the better part of his life as part of a duo team of fighters and now is on his own. This has had some severe effects on him when it comes to coping with certain situations. His confidence in a lot of situations can come into question when hes unsure of what to do and left to answer those questions on his own is something he struggles with, too used to deferning to his partner for answers in such cases.
Light-Bodied : the nature of being as fast as Zander requires the body to be rather light and fragile. Making him prone to the breakage of his appendages in certain circumstances. Preferring to avoid attacks if he can, because even somewhat light impacts can have rather catastrophic effects.
Bug out of water : Along with Zanders body's intense needs and fragility comes a somewhat delicate equilibrium. Requiring him to seek shelter and remain at least somewhat warm at night. Excessive cold or warmth could see him exhausted, in distress, or even facing death in extreme cases. These temperatures can seem nominal to other contestents with as little as a 10 degree jump in either direction having noticeable effects on his well being.
High-Metabolism : Along with his fragile body, Zander requires a lot of sustenance when exercising such abilities for any amount of time. Preferring sugars and fruits as sustenance, some kind of nutrients must be imbibed in order to keep up with the fast pace of his body. Exertion mostly exacerbates this, causing him to have to eat almost twice as much in a day where he has to exert his abilities, or even three times as much if consistently pushing himself.
Veggie Vendetta: The nature of Zanders quest and reasons for being here have left him with a great deal of loathing for the corrupted wildlife of the endgrove, causing him to pursue dangerous avenues of getting things done if it gives him a chance to exact vengeance from his recently mortal enemies.
Fragile offering: Having gathered up what he could of his partner, Zander now brings a small glass jar of firefly dust to offer for her return. That being said this receptacle is fragile and must be handled with care, if it were to break or crack he’d either need to find a new receptacle that would also be near air tight, or risk losing the one thing he has to offer for her resurrection. For better or worse, he refuses to part with it for any amount of time, thinking it safest with himself.
Pack Light: The satchel that carries both a ball of yarn and his offering is the extent of what he can afford to carry other than his weapon. Meaning a lot of things such as food, or harsh weather clothing must be found or made on the fly. The nature of his weight and the way he fights also means these things are often discarded for the sake of practicality and must be remade or required later. Things like food especially must be gathered and foraged rather than packed and rationed due to this.
Personality:
Stoic and quiet, but not mute. A pragmatic and kind individual, but cautious. Somewhat sheltered from the wider world. He can be somewhat naive to the machinations of other people, but is largely weary of plant life and animals alike. His recent loss of his partner has left him re-evaluating alot of life and struggling with the changes and challenges that's brought. However despite his fears of the wider world and lack of experience working alone, he's determined to bring back his partner no matter the cost. Finally he's developed a rather vindictive tendency when it comes to the corrupted plantlife in the end grove. Causing him to pursue them and attempt to prune them from the wider endgrove with great fervor. Beyond that though in his alone time, when he must face it, is spent in quiet contemplation, struggling and wrestling with the feelings of loneliness he’s avoided for so long.
History:
Once part of a larger moth colony, Zander would be assigned to the guardianship of his people. Joining the regiments of those who defend the colony. After a rather harrowing clash with a rival nest however he was left without the ability to fly as his wings were permanently crippled. This led to him exiling himself from his people out of shame, as the ability to fly was something held as sacred to the moth people. Shamed by the elder moth, a near godlike figure and king in the culture driving him into deep depression and listlessness.Seeking an honorable death in the wider forest world he instead found a partner in a firefly named Verica. Her understanding and light ended up showing him that his life after flight was not one of doom and gloom. For years they would travel together. Learning to fight with a unique codependent style. Her altruistic nature gives his deathwish a new coat of paint. Now instead of being a march for the inevitable end, they were a duo of heroes doing good throughout the forest for other insect folk in need. Until now they have done their best to help all they met, but recently new strange and dangerous plants have started spilling over into their home leading them to travel to the end grove. However, before reaching their destination in a rather violent confrontation with strange new plants unlike any they had experienced, Verica would lose her life, leaving behind only a small smattering of glowing firefly dust to be gathered up by Zander. Blaming himself for not being able to save her, he now hearing rumors of the end grove and the magical flower within, has resolved to do anything in his power to bring her back, as well as a deep vendetta against the dangerous and corrupted plantlife of the endgrove. Seeking both to bring her back and cleanse this natural place of corruption, even should he fail to bring his partner back.

Other: The coloration of Zander since his wings were damaged transitioned from a warm autumnal pallet to a more cool nighttime motif. Along with this has come an almost imperceptible bio-luminescence, which he attributes to his time spent with Varica. His pack, which is often covered by the coverage of his cloaked wings, also glows where the glass jar of dust sits on his person.
