GENERAL RULES
1. All types of media are permitted - comics, literature, animation, and other categories - and there is no penalty for using as many types as you like in your entries. However, AI art or using ChatGPT for writing is not permitted and using such to create content for Resurrection will be grounds for disqualification from the tournament.
2. All original species are allowed in this OCT; humans, anthros, aliens, sentient animals - whatever you can imagine, so long as your character does not mock or deride any real-life group. Only fan characters such as Pokémon are not allowed to enter. If you're using a character belonging to an original species made by someone else, you must obtain permission from them before using the species in Resurrection.
3. All sections of the reference sheet outline must be filled out, and a visual reference sheet must be provided. If you can't draw one yourself, please note the staff with a description and one will be provided for you.
4. Two characters are allowed per competitor/tag-team. You may have a team of two fighter characters or one fighter character and one spectator character (who does not fight) are also permitted. However, only one character per team is allowed to receive the resurrection bloom and decide how to use it.
5. Only one spectator character is allowed; all other characters depicted in your entry count as side characters. Side characters must not appear in the Endgrove. They may only be shown in flashbacks, discussed by your character or communicated with long distance via some sort of device. Side characters do not require a reference sheet, but providing a simple one is helpful.
6. You may enter as part of a tag team with another person, but if both of you have fighter characters both your references must be individually approved.
7. Please try to submit all fighting character/spectator refs around the same time, as adding characters later on requires them to be approved before you can submit more work.
8. You cannot submit pages of your audition until all your references have been approved, and characters that require reference sheets may only be submitted during the audition phase. No new reference sheets will be accepted once round one has started.
AUDITIONING REQUIREMENTS
9. Your audition must show your character finding their way to the Endgrove. They can seek it out, hear of it opening, be chased into it, etc. The grove has various entrances, which may be connected by magical or scientific means to other locations if you like, such as a teleporter or magical portal.
10. Blanca or one of her staff will arrive and speak to your character after they successfully handle one of the garden’s corrupted plants. She or her staff may witness this event themselves, or be informed of it by one of Blanca’s helpers.
11. How exactly a competitor achieves this is up to you; there is no specific OOC criteria. They can use their physical or magical abilities to defeat it, successfully escape unscathed, or pacify it somehow! Any method is allowed, as long as they can display sufficient competence in some form that Blanca or her staff would offer them the chance to compete due to their capabilities.
12. Once they achieve this, Blanca or her staff will offer them the chance to compete for the bloom.
13. Once they accept, they will then be taken to the Endgrove sanctuary where all competitors will stay between rounds and after they have lost, which is further described in the setting section.
ROUND RULES
14. Your round may be as long or short as you wish, but a round that is excessively short or long may detract from your overall score.
15. Your character can win a round in any way possible; physically defeating the other character, tricking them, coercion, it's entirely up to you, though you must keep within the rules defined by the prompt. Completely nonsensical scenarios are not recommended, however.
16. Killing opponents’ characters is always permitted in rounds, but while it is not required we do recommend communicating with your opponent if you intend on doing so.
17. Rounds will generally be around two months long. You are expected to have a completed round finished by the end of this time.
18. Time extensions will be granted to participants who can show proof that they have been working on their rounds. Mass extensions may be granted if there are a surplus of competitors in need of them.
19. Moderate gore and other mature content is allowed in rounds, but please mark all pages that contain it with the proper warnings. All content submitted by competitors will be vetted for offensive material and/or material that requires an 18+ warning by the judges for suitability before it is accepted..
SETTING
The remaining sanctuary is the Endgrove’s heart, protected by enchanted thorn walls from the spreading corruption. Within it lie elegant structures grown directly out of bamboo, trees, and cacti; these structures will house the competitors during the tournament. Food and any other necessary items will be supplied by Blanca’s helper NPCs.
